NATIONAL: The Virtual Events Institute has launched a new global platform aiming to bring the event community together. VEI will provide a forum to discuss topics regarding virtual and hybrid events, delivering high-level summits, market insights, community networking, awards, and certified training. The launch begins in August with a 10-module certified training course led by market-leading subject matter experts, focusing on the skills and knowledge needed to plan and execute exceptional virtual events.

CHICAGO: Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Chicago Medical/University District, the first combined Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels located in Chicago, officially opened its doors to the public on July 28 inside 106-year-old landmark Cook County Hospital, which had been vacant for nearly two decades.

LOS ANGELES: The Grammy Museum has announced a senior staff reorganization, including the creation of three senior leadership positions. Key features of the restructure include expanding digital initiatives and the education department's national music education programs, otherwise known as Grammy In The Schools programs. The changes will take effect on Aug. 1.

NEW YORK: NY NOW plans to create a single stationery destination within its market. The reimagined stationery destination will be part of a re-branded Gift & Stationery section, and the National Stationery Show brand will be retired. The next edition of NY NOW will take place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in February 2021.

Mondrian Park Avenue, managed by Journal Hotels, has reopened. Mondrian Terrace, the hotel’s rooftop lounge and bar, and Cleo, the hotel's restaurant—which includes a new culinary pop-up by celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito—have also reopened. The hotel has created enhanced health and cleanliness protocols to ensure guest and staff safety.
