Understanding the significance of worldviewsWhatever happened to “worldview”? There was once a time when the term was ubiquitous within American evangelicalism. After the Second World War, the term was popularized by thinkers such as Carl Henry and Francis Schaeffer and rapidly spread throughout the movement. Hundreds of resources—from conferences and classes, to articles and books—were produced to explain why thinking in terms of worldview and analyzing worldviews was necessary for apologetics and missions. Philosopher David K. Naugle even claimed that, “Conceiving of Christianity as a worldview has been one of the most significant developments in the history of the church.” Is your church ready to respond to a post-Roe world? The Dobbs decision marks a true turning point in the pro-life movement — a moment that Christians, pro-life advocates and many others have worked toward tirelessly for 50 years. This Week in Washington, D.C.This week in Washington, D.C., Title IX is again in the spotlight. Over the summer, the Department of Education (DOE) issued a proposed rule under Title IX discrimination laws that would expand the definition of “sex” to include sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Under this new rule and in order to receive federal funding, religious schools and organizations may be compelled to allow transgender students to live in opposite sex dorms, use restrooms reserved for the opposite sex, or participate on sports teams with their chosen gender identity. The DOE allowed 60 days for organizations and individuals to comment with concerns. As that comment period closed last week, the DOE is obligated to respond to each of these comments before putting forward a finalized rule. The ERLC submitted public comments in opposition to the proposed changes and will continue to monitor these changes and look for additional opportunities to raise our concerns and advocate for the recognition of God’s good design for biological sex and for the protection of religious liberty. You can read more about the proposed change and ERLC’s concerns here.
