When Atheists Find Christ

I’ve interacted with a lot of atheists. I’ve tried to share my faith with them, to lay out the best case I could for Christian faith. But honestly, I don’t usually get very far. Most seemed resolute in their beliefs, hardened against the idea of God.

But I do know some do come to faith. I have friends who are passionate believers who once identified as atheists. I was also encouraged by this interview with Jana Harmon, looking at how 50 Atheists found Christ. The atheists-turned-Christians Harmon interviewed once believed they would never drop their atheistic beliefs. So what changed things? She said, “there was some catalyst, some form of dissatisfaction that caused them to question their own atheism or begin looking more closely at Christianity.”

It’s a fascinating interview that will help you reach atheist friends and remind you that God can still work in people’s hearts, even when they seem distant from Him.

While we’re on the topic, I want to encourage you to check out our resource on Reaching Millennials Who Leave the Faith. This 15-page resource is designed to help you understand and connect with younger people who have grown up in the church but walked away.
