When a crisis hits, who do you turn to? In our moments of greatest need, the people who come alongside us make a big difference.
For Olivier, whose home was destroyed by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Les Cayes, Haiti, it was the local church that responded to meet her needs. “I was outside when the earthquake happened,” she said, “and when I entered my house’s area, I saw only debris.”
Through World Relief’s Church Empowerment program, a network of 174 churches immediately responded to support 4,000 of the most vulnerable families affected by the earthquake, providing food, hygiene kits, tarps and plastic sheets. Today, these churches are leading the way as Les Cayes rebuilds.
“I received assistance from World Relief which was orderly, respectful and dignified,” said Olivier.
At World Relief, we believe that when the church is mobilized to achieve its full potential, it has the power to change our world.
That’s why we’re committed to empowering local churches in the U.S. and across the globe to respond to urgent crises and meet the needs of the most vulnerable among them. The local church is the largest social network on the planet and has the ability, authority and permanency to do far more than any government institution or non-profit organization could.
As we face the ongoing and emerging challenges of 2022, we want you to join us! No one of us can carry the world’s burdens on our own. But when we move together, as God’s church, anything is possible. Will you join us?
Moving Together,
World Relief
