Beyond Meat COO suspended

Good Morning Voornaam,

Ghost Bites

  • Gemfields achieved another great auction result for emeralds
  • Silverbridge gives us an example of a s124 "squeeze-out" in action
  • Thungela has signed a three-year wage agreement with NUM

For these stories and an update on a JSE-listed company that just saw its CEO buy another healthy tranche of shares, read Ghost Bites>>>

Sometimes, you just need the rea l thing

Get ready for The Game Changers meets The Silence of the Lambs. The COO of Beyond Meat has been suspended after being arrested for allegedly punching a man and biting his nose. As it transpires, a plant-based diet is tough to stick to.

The share price is down 75% this year, so this situation really doesn't do the company any favours. It's also a joke that just writes itself, making my life easier.

For other share price charts that look like they were attacked by a Hannibal enthusiast, you can read Ghost Global this morning. The FedEx chart is particularly hideous, with the issues we predicted in Magic Markets Premium coming through. Get the latest on Amazon, FedEx, Netflix and Roblox at this link>>>

Sitting on our hands

TreasuryONE is eagerly awaiting the FOMC announcement this evening and so is everybody else. The rand and other emerging market currencies took a breather yesterday before the party starts tonight. Trading today is likely to be muted during South African trading hours, as all eyes will be on the Fed.

To understand just how important this week is (with no fewer than 12 central banks making decisions), read this great article by Andre Botha that sets the tone for the all-important Fed tonight.

Learn more about cryptocurrencies

Jaltech will be hosting a series of cryptocurrency educational webinars this year, presented by Andoni Nicolau, one of Jaltech's cryptocurrency experts. The first webinar will focus on several aspects of cryptocurrencies, including:

  • Why the cryptocurrency market has seen such a large sell-off
  • The introduction of regulations by the FSCA next year
  • The rapid adoption of cryptocurrencies

If you want to learn about cryptocurrencies, this is clearly the place to do it. To register at no cost, you need to follow this link>>>

Other cool stuff

If you haven't listened to it yet, episode 93 of Magic Markets is a great way to understand more about the US inflation impact on the markets and why I'm worried about the exposure that certain local companies have to Europe.

Finally, don't miss the opportunity to engage with the management team at CA&S Group. The next edition of Unlock the Stock takes place at 12pm on Thursday. There will be a chance to ask questions at the end, so put on your analyst hat and come join us by registering here>>>

Have a great Wednesday!

Ghost Bites (Gemfields | Silverbridge | Thungela)

Gemfields has banked another great emerald auction result. Silverbridge is being subjected to an unusual s124 "squeeze out" by ROX Equity Partners. Thungela has signed a three-year wage deal.

With 12 central banks due to make decisions this week, get ready for a potentially volatile few days. Of course, the Fed is the key.

Countdown to central banks
Ghost Global (Amazon | FedEx | Netflix | Roblox)

Amazon's lawyers are busy as usual. FedEx's share price has been decimated. Netflix is showing signs of life again. Roblox's valuation looks vulnerable.

The US CPI print was only slightly different to market expectations, yet everything fell over. We discuss these sensitivities, along with views on Europe.
