Good morning, Marketer, may your coffee order always be right.

I got wowed by some marketing the other night. We (spouse, self, three dogs) were watching “Poker Face” (great show) on Hulu and for some reason had to pause it. When we did, a still ad for Dunkin’ Donuts popped up and remained until we restarted.

“That’s smart,” I said and even the dogs agreed. It’s a great, unobtrusive placement. People may get irritated when an ad interrupts a show, but not when they’re the ones doing the interrupting. 

I bet that image is onscreen for a lot longer than the usual 30 second ad spot. That’s a long exposure to any other people in the room. Even if it’s someone watching by themselves, that image is going to get noticed by them. Well done, marketers!
