Dear Friend,
“There are so few places where students see and hear authors talking to THEM. Most students have a hard time writing—where to start, how to make sense of their experience—but when an author talks to you and tells you how that little kernel of their experience grew into their book, you can see yourself. You can listen along and think, I did that. I had that happen. I know what this person means. Suddenly writing doesn't seem so foreign and really hard. Relationships are at the heart of learning and Kidquake offers the little people a place to have those relationships with people who write.” — Mrs. L, SFUSD teacher and long-time Kidquake attendee In 2020, Kidquake brought together 3000 students (80% BIPOC) to meet a diverse array of authors and educators. Now we're poised to expand our program into more schools, to reach more students, and to foster more formative experiences with stories and storytelling. We need your help to foster this lifelong love in schools all over the Bay Area |
