Buyers Say Facebook Pre-Election Ad Period Hit With Unexpected Outages

Hi there,

Not too long ago, Facebook decided (in September) that it would ban any new political ad buys purchased a week away from Election Day.

It was an effort to crack down on disinformation in the lead up to the big day of in-person voting. Well, now that we're down to the wire, Facebook implemented the new policy and media buyers encountered friction, as my colleague Scott Nover reported.

Many ad campaigns that had already been approved were suddenly paused around the time the new policy was deployed. Media buyers, some speaking on anonymity, said the issues lasted well into Tuesday afternoon.

Read the full backstory.

Here's what else we're covering:

Stat of the Day: After selling The Morning Show to Apple TV+, Reese. Witherspoon scrapped the original Season 1 plan following the #MeToo movement in 2017.
