Two years ago, the Forward published its first coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, none of us had any idea what was to come. In the midst of so much uncertainty, we asked for your help — and our donor community showed up beyond our wildest expectations.
The pandemic had a unique impact on the Jewish community, and since March 2020, we’ve ensured that you, our readers, receive the most accurate, trustworthy information — just as you’ve come to expect. We explored seders and funerals during social distancing, covered vaccinations in Jewish communities, and dove deep into the hows and whys of pandemic policies.
At the same time, we launched bold new initiatives to bring the Forward’s community and events into the digital world: hosting Zoominars, creating new online gathering spaces, and investing in our social media communities.
In response, our community broke every giving record we’d ever set, making it clear that the Forward was more than just a newspaper — it’s an institution. And that impact has continued: in 2021, we continued to see huge growth in our donor community, and 2022 is already off to a powerful start.
