'Huge relief’ to Scottish tourism sector as holidays poised to restart

Scotland’s tourism chiefs have hailed a new route map out of lockdown as “the most positive news we have received in a long time”, after Nicola Sturgeon revealed new indicative dates for the sector to reopen.

Ms Sturgeon told MSPs on Tuesday afternoon that all tourist accommodation in Scotland would be able to reopen from April 26, allowing operators to cash in on a potential staycation boom this summer.

Hairdressers inundated with bookings

Finally.

Salons across Scotland and customers desperate for trims are rejoicing after the First Minister announced the easing of lockdown restrictions would see hairdressing salons and barbers reopen along with garden centres in three weeks.

“When she announced that we could reopen on April 5th, we just about died because it was three weeks ahead of schedule. At that very second too, my phone began to buzz with calls, WhatsApp messages and emails began flying in," one Edinburgh salon owner told us.
