A note from the women at the top of The Forward’s masthead
Friend — Innovation is in our DNA at The Forward. That’s true of our coverage and it’s true of our leadership. I’m proud to be one of two women at the top of The Forward’s masthead, together with Editor-in-Chief Jodi Rudoren. Together we bring new voices and different perspectives to the way The Forward is run every day. Today, on the first day of Women’s History Month and just a few days before International Women’s Day, I want to say how proud I am of this aspect of our work. Celebrate women’s leadership in journalism this month by making a donation to The Forward. Journalism needs innovative leadership now more than ever before. As we collectively strive to tell the stories of more diverse leaders, movements, political moments, and culture, we need reporters and editors whose coverage is informed by a wider diversity of identities and experience. This is part of what The Forward has always been about. We were founded to give American Jewish communities a voice in national conversations. We still do that today, and we are proud to honor that legacy while also evolving to meet the needs of today’s fast-paced digital news landscape. Women in leadership is part of our commitment to being one of the most innovative publications in journalism. Just today, for Women’s History Month, we launched a special project, “Unsung Women,” showcasing women from Biblical times to our modern moment whose stories have rarely been told. Read more here. If you support this aspect of our work, especially during Women’s History Month, please donate. I’m incredibly proud to be part of the team working to make The Forward the most significant Jewish voice in American journalism. We’ve been innovating for 122 years and look forward to 122 more. Sincerely, Rachel Fishman Feddersen Publisher & Chief Executive Officer, The Forward P.S. — Earlier this year we launched OUR TIME, a new monthly newsletter by and for Jewish women – an eclectic mix of inspiration for mind, body, soul and heart.
