What's in a name? | |
For a long time, journalist and disability advocate Eliza Hull didn’t want to be called disabled.
At the age of five she was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a nervous system disorder that means she walks differently, falls over regularly, and has low muscle tone.
Now, she tells Life Matters, she identifies as “a proud disabled woman” – but she knows a lot of people who see that word differently.
Eliza’s investigation of the language of disability is just one of the stories you can hear on RN this week, as part of the ABC’s celebration of the International Day of People with a Disability.
