Chasing redfish: If you spend any time chasing redfish around the marshes, you might think their numbers are declining. At least that what some anglers tell our Mike Smith. Theories abound, but state data won't be available for some time.
Saints you ought to know: There are any number of “most valuable Saints.” Demario Davis. Alvin Kamara. Marshon Lattimore. Khai Hartley. Khai Hartley? Huh? Yeah, he’s a guy you should get to know, Saints beat writer Luke Johnson writes. Columnist Jeff Duncan, meanwhile, says Drew Brees and Sean Payton might be gone, but at least a person from the Saints' glory days is still on board.
Outside help: There's been a lot of talk lately about employee shortages in our public schools. Teachers, bus drivers . . . you name it. Faced with falling numbers of substitute workers, the St. Tammany Parish School Board is discussing bringing in an outside company to help. But a lot of questions are being raised. Speaking of teachers, New Orleans schools have fewer certified teachers than some other districts. But is it that important?
