The metaverse. Just the term will elicit a reaction from most people, and how you feel about it is largely based on where you’re standing.
For some it's a gateway to a world better than the one they’re inhabiting. One where they can link up with college buddies for digital golf outings with the press of a button, or travel to remote vacation locales without booking a plane ticket. For others, it's a vehicle for immersive gaming that leaves traditional controller aided options in the dust.
And for quite a few folks, it’s just something to be used as another revenue stream for Mark Zuckerberg that’ll fizzle out before the next generation of Meta Quest headsets hits the market. Nothing lost. Nothing gained. On to the next one.
But for wealth management, the potential of the platform is a big, exciting unknown. So far, practical application of the technology hasn’t happened in a way that makes sense, and the concept may be too abstract to wrap your arms around.
That’s where Sandeep Vishnu of Capco and this week’s edition of the Financial Planning podcast comes in.
A veteran financial services consultant who has spent 25 years devouring bleeding edge tech and translating that knowledge into actionable guidance for firms, Vishnu sees a future where the metaverse amplifies the industry.
Imagine taking client meetings in a shared virtual space, collaborating on new fintech solutions in real time, and tackling compliance challenges from a new perspective. Vishnu imagines all that and more on the FP Pod, as well as goes into how the current state of tech innovation in financial services continues to build steam.
