Greetings, New Orleans food lovers! This week, Ian McNulty visits Nawlins Market in Harvey, a surprising hub for Latin American food vendors. Tales of the Cocktail returns with more ways to enjoy the spirited festivities. Uptown, Beth Biundo Sweets will close after six years, and a new deli opens with Italian subs. We take a last look at Emeril's before it closes for a major renovation. Finally, juice up your summer drinks with Liz Faul's Louisiana-style agua fresca. 1. World market. At Nawlins Market near the Harvey Canal, families gather around spreads of pupusas and seafood soups from surrounding Latin American food stands. Ian McNulty found a familiar face among the vendors, serving up dishes from her native Colombia. 2. Bar none? It's a conference for the spirits industry at heart, but hospitality is stirred into its DNA. On July 23, Tales of the Cocktail returns with more ways for cocktail aficionados to take part alongside the pros. 3. Wait! There's more. After six years making custom cakes and everyday cookies, Beth Biundo Sweets will shut down for good. Francolini’s Italian Deli opens Uptown with a long roster of sandwiches drawn from the Italian deli traditions of the Northeast. And Emeril's will close to get ready for a new chapter: Take a last look. 4. Fresh and fruity. Agua fresca is made from fruit, lime juice, water and a sweetener, so it's easy to switch up the flavor profiles using fresh or frozen fruit. Check out Liz Faul's thirst-quenching recipes for agua fresca. That's it for the food newsletter, but in New Orleans, the food news never stops. Keep up with all the inside info at Where NOLA Eats.
