| | A massive earthquake hit Morocco late Friday night, leaving over 1,000 dead. The magnitude 6.8 earthquake was the biggest — and deadliest — to hit the country in 120 years. In response to the deadly earthquake, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox announced Saturday that members of the Utah National Guard will travel to Morocco to assist in recovery efforts. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kingdom of Morocco in the aftermath of yesterday’s devastating earthquake,” Cox wrote on social media. “Later today, members of the Utah National Guard will leave to assist. Utah stands ready to help through our strong military ties with the Kingdom.” The Utah National Guard has been in partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco for 20 years as a part of Utah National Guard’s State Partnership Program. |

| Which Utah university graduates make more money? A new report points to Weber State University associate degrees in high-demand fields. The Utah Foundation report title, “Bang for your buck: Which Utah schools have the best return on investment,” says some WSU associate degree graduates earn more than students with bachelor’s degrees in fields with less demand. The report looked at the return on investment at Utah’s public and private colleges and universities and found that WSU is tops for students’ 10-year net present value of their education. “We were thrilled but we’re not altogether surprised," Weber State University Provost Ravi Krovi said. "It’s sort of validating, quite honestly. We certainly want to tell our story but when you have data which comes in and proves it, that’s great. That’s even better."
