 BY VICKI FERSTEL | Staff writer The heavy rain that slammed Baton Rouge and other parts of south Louisiana in 2021 surpassed the devastating August 2016 floods for short-term and localized intensity, a new study by LSU and other researchers has found. While parts of Baton Rouge and eastern Livingston Parish saw more than a 1,000-year rainfall during the August 2016 storm, those measurements were over two days, not the six-hour blast in the May 2021 storm. LSU linebacker Whit Weeks played a crucial role in the Tigers' 34-10 win over Arkansas on Saturday. Weeks finished with a team-high nine tackles, one sack and one interception.
