Research Tools: University of Maryland Libraries Releases a New Open Source Web Application Developed for White House Pool Reports Digital Collection
The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) was founded in 1914 to promote excellence in journalism, robust reporting on the U.S. presidency, and support of democracy through a free press. The White House Press Corps is made up of journalists credentialed by WHCA. This press pool provides reporting on the President’s daily activities and events. The UMD Libraries’ WHCA Pool Reports Collection consists of email pool reports created while covering the U.S. President and Vice President dating back to June 2020.

Now Available: “Academic Library Pricing Dataset for SciFinder Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus: 2018–2024”
This dataset contains database pricing and agreements received through public records requests made to members of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and a few non-ARL research libraries. Pricing from the years 2018 to 2024, depending on the institution, is included for three premium academic databases: SciFinder from the American Chemical Society’s Chemical Abstract Service, Web of Science from Clarivate, and Scopus from Elsevier.

Research Article: “A Survey on Knowledge Organization Systems of Research Fields: Resources and Challenges” (Preprint)
Knowledge Organization Systems (KOSs), such as term lists, thesauri, taxonomies, and ontologies, play a fundamental role in categorizing, managing, and retrieving information. In the academic domain, KOSs are often adopted for representing research areas and their relationships, primarily aiming to classify research articles, academic courses, patents, books, scientific venues, domain experts, grants, software, experiment materials, and several other relevant products and agents. This paper aims to present a comprehensive survey of the current KOS for academic disciplines.

New Report: Survey Results Show U.S. Higher Ed Faculty Increasingly Reliant on Digital Course Materials
Three-quarters of higher education faculty in the U.S. teach at least one fully face-to-face course, compared to 40 percent teaching fully online or 23 percent teaching a course that combined face-to-face and online components. These results come from Bay View Analytics’ most recent survey of over 3,400 higher education faculty in the U.S.
