Good morning! We've made it to the weekend, and that means we are one weekend closer to the start of football season. Welcome to the June 29 edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. Training camp is less than one month away. 🔑 playersWe've spent some time this week analyzing the Saints roster and identifying who over at 5800 Airline Drive is most crucial for the team's success this year. Not the best or most talented, but the ones the team really needs to pan out in order to end their playoff drought. Beat writer Matthew Paras dove into the topic here, giving his reasoning behind his selections. Spoiler alert: Paras thinks Carr is the most important player. Here's his reasoning: "Carr’s performance in 2024 will likely determine a direction for the franchise. But if Carr struggles, the Saints would have to ask themselves whether this path is truly worth continuing." Agree? Disagree? Want some other viewpoints? The crew got together and hashed it out for the latest edition of the Saints Insider podcast. Check out the show, and let us know what you think. A new era at WRThe conversation about the receiver position around these parts the last few years has often centered on what the Saints may or may not be able to get out of Michael Thomas. Now the question for Olave is if he can put it together more consistently to reach new heights, and the question for the Saints is who else is going to contribute there? Paras dives into the position, and makes a bold prediction about what Olave is going to accomplish this year. And if you're digging our position preview series, go check out the reports on the quarterbacks and the running backs, too. Y'all have a great weekend! Cheers, Luke Johnson |
