Capetonians may recognise her name from the trendy restaurant, The Raptor Room, but since its closure in 2021, Amy Lilley has placed her focus on music.
The LGBTQI+ activist landed on the South African music scene with a thud of success trailing in her wake, thanks to her debut single Formidable in 2020. Shortly after, she released her debut EP, She, which earned the local muso her first SAMA nomination for Best Pop Album in 2021.
Now, Lilley is back with a 9-track album, Petrichor, set for release on 9 September.
In a quick Q&A with News24, Lilley shares more about receiving a SAMA nomination as a newcomer to the industry, why she continued to pursue music after The Raptor Room closed its doors, and what she is looking forward to most now that her main focus is making music.
