On wealth, equity and reinvestment

After months of collecting data, researching and reporting Technical.ly is launching a new, data-driven reporting series today on wealth, race and economic mobility. Called "Who makes $200K?" it includes data on high-income earners for cities around the country, and interviews with professionals across Technical.ly's markets.

In the Baltimore story we published today (read it below), there's a juxtaposition: While Baltimore’s population fell over the last decade, there was an uptick of Black high-income earners in the city. We talked to some of them, and found that these professionals see potential for Baltimore to have as high a profile as contemporaries along the East Coast like DC, Philly and New York, while rising in a way that learns lessons from those cities. Read my story below, as well as a broader look at the data from Technical.ly CEO Chris Wink.

This is the first in a series on how tech economies are growing wealth in U.S. cities, and we want you to be part of it. What do you know that we don’t, or what do you think we need to come to understand about the topic? Email us at baltimore@technical.ly with your thoughts.
