A different case of domestic violence, Louisiana's dubious distinction and the state AG fires a warning shot
By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Robert Jones IV knew something was very wrong with his son. So he had the 27-year-old committed to a hospital for a mental evaluation. Eight days later, New Orleans police say, his namesake shot him dead near the Little Woods that they shared. DUBIOUS DISTINCTION: The tsunami of new coronavirus cases washing over Louisiana in a fourth wave of the pandemic has once again left the state with the most severe outbreak in the country. Gov. John Bel Edwards recommended everyone return to mask-wearing indoors, and the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority ordered its 800 employees to get vaccinated. Meanwhile, a Marrero woman won $100,000 and a Slidell teenager won a $100,000 scholarship in the state's vaccine lottery. WARNING SHOT: No fan of forced vaccines, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is threatening to sue the state’s newest medical school over its policies after three students reported retaliation for their refusal to get inoculated against COVID-19. All this and much more are in today’s Front Page and on NOLA.com. Welcome to the weekend D.B. |
