Who says two quarterbacks aren't better than one?

Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for November 22, 2022. Today we're going to talk about the Saints flipping football convention on its head.

If you've listen to people talk about football long enough, you've probably heard someone say something along these lines: If you've use two quarterbacks, you don't have a quarterback.

Maybe that's true to a degree. If this season has proven anything it's that the Saints don't have their future settled at the most important position in sports.

HOWEVER: What if a true dual quarterback system is the best way for this Saints offense to thrive?

We saw a taste of that Sunday in the Superdome, when the Saints kept the Los Angeles Rams defense off balance with a little bit of this (Andy Dalton) and a little bit of that (Taysom Hill). The two traded off taking snaps at a 70-30 split, and the Saints enjoyed a bit of a mini offensive revival.

As coach Dennis Allen said after the game: "It's always good when it works, right?"

We've got a lot more to catch up on in the wake of Sunday's big win.

  • The Saints got what they believe to be some good news regarding defensive end Payton Turner Monday.
  • The Dattitude crew rejoiced in seeing some things they have been clamoring for for awhile now.
  • Take a dive into the numbers with beat writer Terrin Waack in her weekly Marching On feature. Like this one: The Saints are now 110-30 all time when they don't turn the ball over.
  • Even after their big win, the Saints opened up as substantial underdogs for this week's game against San Francisco.

Thanks, as always, for reading. Keep it locked over at nola.com this week as we chronicle the team's preparations for San Francisco.

Cheers,

Luke Johnson
