Good afternoon,

Welcome to your twice-weekly look at how generative AI is transforming the way we live, work and play plus the latest news and analysis.

Are credits the new capital? Absolutely not. But AWS says most start-ups would kill for them to be able to spend on its platform.

The cloud giant is opening its global Generative AI Accelerator and inviting Australian start-ups to pitch and enter for a chance to win up to 1 million AWS credits and a trip to the US to pitch investors at its annual conference in December. The program has just received a $US230m ($346m) cash injection.

Careful where you choose to shop this weekend. Australia’s largest bank has unveiled a new generative AI-powered financial crime system that can produce visual maps of common people linked with transactions which are laundered.

Meanwhile, which degrees will suffer the most as AI rises? Marketing, communication, conveyancing and insurance broking will, according to a new report for the Future Skills Organisation.

Let me know what you think lynchj@theaustralian.com.au
