Monday, 18 October WHO and State of Qatar to launch new multiyear partnership on making FIFA World Cup 2022 and mega sporting events healthy and safe On Monday at 11:00 CEST, WHO and the State of Qatar, in collaboration with FIFA, will launch a new partnership and project titled "Healthy 2022 World Cup - Creating Legacy for Sport and Health". During the same event, WHO will also announce the appointment of a new WHO Goodwill ambassador for sports and health. Tuesday, 19 October WHO has developed a position paper on “Building health systems resilience for UHC and health security during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.” The paper calls for renewed and heightened national and global commitment to building resilient health systems through integration of universal health coverage and health security efforts. A launch event is scheduled for Tuesday at 12:00 CEST, and will be livestreamed here, where more info about the position paper and event is available. Friday, 22 October Ninth COVID-19 IHR Emergency Committee meeting The ninth meeting of the International Health Regulations (2005) Emergency Committee regarding the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is expected to be held next Friday.
