Monday, 21 February Launch of joint WHO/ILO guide A new joint WHO/ILO guide entitled, Caring for those who care: Guide for the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programmes for health workers, launches Monday. The report, executive summary and news release will be available here at 9:00 CET Monday. Both organizations are calling for a system-wide improvements in the protection of health, safety and wellbeing of health workers in the recovery from COVID-19. The publication provides guidance on how the management of health and safety at work in the health sector can be further improved and sustained through efforts headed by national government, employers and health workers’ representatives.
The report will be embargoed until 00:30 CET on 23 February 2022 (more below). VPC Date and Time: Monday, 15:00 CET A special embargoed press conference will discuss the findings of a landmark new report on aggressive marketing of formula milk. The largest study of its kind, this report draws on the experiences of over 8,500 women and 300 health professionals across eight countries. It exposes the invasive marketing practices used by the formula milk industry, violating international standards, and highlights impacts on families’ decisions about how to feed their babies and young children. Thursday-Friday, 24-25 February COVID-19 Global Research and Innovation ForumWHO is hosting the 3rd COVID-19 Global research and innovation forum, next Thursday and Friday, 13:00-18:00 CET (on both days). You do not have to register to join. The Forum will be streamed live here. This virtual event will bring together diverse COVID-19 research scientists, regulatory experts, funders, Member States policy makers and other experts. We will discuss and strategize about the future of COVID-19 research. The forum will include scientific presentations and discussions that will focus on different areas of research. Moreover, there will be keynote presentations and panel discussions on how research can help to end this pandemic and prepare for future pandemics. Friday, 25 February Meeting on the Composition of Influenza Virus Vaccines for Use in the 2022-23 Northern Hemisphere Influenza SeasonFollowing a four-day consultation with an advisory group of experts, WHO will hold a virtual Information Meeting on the Composition of Influenza Virus Vaccines for Use in the 2022-23 Northern Hemisphere Influenza Season on Friday from 10:00-13:00. Registration is required and free of charge. For registration to the information meeting, please send an email to gisrs-whohq@who.int, by 11 February with subject: Registration Information Meeting on the Composition of Influenza Virus Vaccines. The meeting will include representatives and individuals from vaccine regulatory agencies, influenza vaccine manufacturers, members of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS), and other interested institutions.
