Media advisories with Zoom links/dial-in details will be emailed in advance. Tuesday, 7 June World Food Safety Day The United Nations will mark World Food Safety Day next Tuesday. This year, the theme is “Safer food, better health.” Safe food is essential to human health and well-being and is one of the most critical guarantors for good health. The day will draw attention and mobilize action to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks and improve human health. The campaign page is here. The day will be marked with a virtual event from 14:00-15:00 CEST with video messages from WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Dr Qu Dongyu. An interactive session on the need to transform food systems to deliver better health will follow with WHO Assistant Director-General Naoko Yamamoto and Director of the FAO Liaison Office with the UN in Geneva Dominique Burgeon delving into this year’s theme for World Food Safety Day. Watch the event here. 7-10 June World Hepatitis Summit 2022 Next week a global audience of public health scientists, civil society groups, policymakers, and people living with viral hepatitis B and C will come together virtually for the World World Hepatitis Summit to galvanize the global response to viral hepatitis. The four-day event will review progress and renew commitments by global partners to accelerate action to achieve the global target of eliminating of viral hepatitis by 2030.
