If confirmed, media advisory with dial-in details will be emailed in advance. 6-17 March 2023 WHO at the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women The sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) will be held from 6 to 17 March 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters (UN HQ) in New York under the priority theme Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. The sessions will be webcast live on UN WebTV Contact: Cintia Diaz-Herrera, Gender, Equity and Human Rights, WHO diazherrerac@who.int Wednesday, 8 March 2023 Hidden in plain sight: The increasing burden of noncommunicable diseases among refugees and migrants On Wednesday, a webinar will shed light on the burden of Noncommunicable diseases among people on the move and the major risk factors and present the findings of the first WHO World report on the health of refugees and migrants. Positive examples from various countries in tackling NCDs among refugee and migrant populations will also be discussed. To mark International Women’s Day, the webinar will highlight specific challenges that some NCDs pose for women refugees and migrants. The webinar will take place on 8 March 2023 from 14:30 CET/ 08:30 EST. Registration is possible here. The webinar is organized by the WHO Health and Migration Programme and the Department of Noncommunicable Diseases at the World Health Organization with the participation of the migrant section of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) and the Center for Immigrant, refugee and global health of the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy. If there is space for a few more links, please add these: Thursday, 9 March 2023 Launch of the WHO Global report on sodium intake reduction For the first time, WHO launches a report exploring the progress of countries implementing sodium intake reduction policies and their impact on population dietary sodium intake and cardiovascular disease. Join us for a virtual launch to learn what people and countries can do to accelerate action. Key remarks will be delivered by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus Director-General and Dr Tom Frieden, CEO of Resolve to Save Lives and WHO regional experts. Reducing sodium intake is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve health and reduce the burden of noncommunicable diseases, as it can avert a large number of cardiovascular events and deaths at very low total programme costs. A press briefing will be held in advance of the report launch and a press release will also be issued. More details will follow.
