The first WHO position paper covering all aspects of brain health will be published next Tuesday. Many determinants are known to affect brain health at different stages of life. This paper provides a framework explaining what brain health is and how it can be optimized throughout life with actions across physical health, healthy environments, safety and security, learning and social connection plus access to quality services. Optimizing brain health not only reduces the prevalence and burden of neurological disorders, but it also improves mental and physical health overall and creates positive social and economic impacts, all of which contribute to greater well-being and help advance society, irrespective of the presence or absence of disorders.
