• Orono residents will decide in June  whether to stop fluoridating their public water supply -- which could end a nearly 60-year practice.

• Big-name Democrats from Gov. Janet Mills to Maine legislators have been reticent to endorse candidates in the party's crowded presidential primary. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has the most Maine endorsers, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is again the front-runner in Maine despite a large dip in institutional support here after he won the 2016 caucuses in a rout.

How to stay safe from ticks while gardening this season

Hampden looks into dredging so fewer boaters get stuck in the Penobscot River

• During the boating season, Hampden harbormaster Peter Neal is used to seeing a few vessels that have run aground in the channel between the town’s public boat launch and the Penobscot River.

• The University of Maine at Presque Isle appeared headed for a disappointing finish this season after losing seven straight games. Instead, the Owls rallied to win nine of their last 11 contests and have advanced to the North Atlantic Conference semifinals.

• There was a fine line between victory for Hampden Academy and Dexter High School during the recently completed North regional boys basketball tournament. Despite some tense situations, the Broncos and the Tigers made big plays in key situations to win championships and earn their way into the state finals.

• Gregory Burr, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlfe’s regional fisheries supervisor for the Grand Lake Region, said the teen's fish was an impressive specimen.
