ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.:Visit Albuquerque has welcomed Scott Craighead as the organization’s new vice president of sales, services, and sports. Craighead comes to Albuquerque most recently from the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), where he served as vice president of exhibitions and events as well as the vice president for the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR). Starting on Aug. 22, he will oversee Visit Albuquerque’s efforts to generate qualified meeting, convention, sports, and group tour leads that are distributed to Albuquerque’s hotels, the Albuquerque Convention Center, and area event and sports facilities.
ATLANTA:Live Nation Women and The United State of Women are teaming up to present Beautiful Noise Live—When All Women Vote Week of Action, taking place Sept. 19-23, 2022, in Atlanta. The week of live event programming will feature panels, workshops, interviews, forums, and concerts that use the power of music, women’s voices, and civic engagement to shine a light on issues that affect women, while encouraging them to get out the vote. Non-partisan voter registration activations will be on-site at concerts throughout the week including shows from Brandi Carlile and Alicia Keys.
CHICAGO: The 11,000-square-foot Canal Street Market, located in the West Loop, is now open. The self-described “high-end deli” also includes a coffee and pastry counter and a gourmet retail market. A highlight will be the Italian-inspired Canal Street Eatery, which opens on Aug. 25. This space, designed by DLR Group, will feature tall ceilings, expansive windows, and seating for 120. And opening in September is Afterbar, a sleek cocktail bar with a menu inspired by Chicago’s World Fair in 1893. In addition to full bar seating, Afterbar will also offer patio seating for 42 people.
LAS VEGAS: The Collaboration Center Foundation will host its second annual Night en Glanc Gala on Sept. 28 at the foundation’s LV Ranch campus. The outdoor gathering will have a ranch-inspired theme, and include food stations and cocktails and a live and silent auction that will raise funds for the organization, which assists individuals with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. Guests will also be able to tour the ranch, and performers from Cirque Mechanics will be providing entertainment throughout the evening.
NEW YORK: The ninth annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo takes place Sept. 24-25 at New Jersey’s Meadowland Exposition Center. Presented by High River Sauces, the two-day festival will feature more than 50 vendors, along with craft brews and cocktails and a variety of adventurous eating challenges on the so-called “Stage of Doom." General admission tickets are on sale now; children under 10 can attend free with an adult.
