This weekend could see one of the great Formula 1 milestones equalled in Russia, as Lewis Hamilton can match Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 Grand Prix victories. The only man who can reasonably stop him doing so is his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas. Bottas, who won his maiden F1 race at Sochi in 2017, now has five races to reverse a 55-point gap if he’s to stop Hamilton equalling another Schumacher record of seven world titles. It’s now or never for the Finn, who dominated Friday practice again today, but it’s time for him to step up or give up. And a shout out to Kimi Raikkonen, who will equal Rubens Barrichello’s record for the number of Grand Prix starts on Sunday. F1’s iceman will become its ironman!
