Hi folks, what's the craic?

If you were to ask anyone who has never been to Dubai what they think the city looks like then, chances are, you'll get a few different answers.

Some might say that it's that ultra-modern city with sky-high buildings, a huge mall and flying cars. And that is (mostly) true to be fair. Particularly of Downtown where there's so much to do. Though we do need to wait a little longer for the flying taxis.

But a lot may naively assume that it's a still sandy desert city. While that was certainly true once upon a time, it's no longer the case.

It's now practically a forest (well, sort of).

And that's because Dubai Municipality has announced that, in the past year, more than 210,000 trees have been planted across the city at main roads, public parks and so much more.

But this should come as no surprise to anyone who lives here. This city is constantly changing. I mean just look at what's happening at Bluewaters for example.

So while we'll always have an amazing desert escape on our doorstep, the reality of city life is very different these days – for the better.

Like the great philosopher Hannah Montana always said, it's the best of both worlds.
