Why is there no Class of '49 in Louisiana?

Nobody in the state of Louisiana graduated high school in 1949. It's a weird fact that one reader's late husband always told her, which she brought to our attention for our Curious Louisiana series.

He's the story of how a seismic change in Louisiana education meant there was no Class of '49.
