Legendary Italian marque to make racing return
| This year could have been a rough one for Formula E, with Audi and BMW departing and Mercedes exiting after this season is complete, but the news that Maserati will join its ranks in time for the Gen3 era in 2022/23 is a massive boost. Maserati has a huge motorsport legacy that stretches back to the origins of the Formula 1 World Championship. Its legendary 250F – one of the iconic F1 cars of all time – won the drivers’ title for Juan Manuel Fangio in 1957. Since then, its racing exploits have been limited – bar a stretch of dominating the world of GT racing – so to have ‘the Trident’ back at world championship level is a welcome return.
