The European Championships are set to begin on Friday, with the largest programme of in-person events Scotland has seen since the start of the pandemic to take place over the next month in Glasgow.

What brought Ruth Davidson to tears

It is quite a startling sight to see the woman who was lauded for her “toughness” in Holyrood, and for photo calls in army tanks, break down in tears.

The tears are a fleeting moment in an incredibly emotional documentary on the relationship between football and gambling the former Scottish Conservative leader has filmed for Channel 4, and which will be broadcast tonight.

SNP criticised for 'eye-watering' £1.2m car company spend

Scottish Labour has criticised the SNP for an “eye-watering” bill of more than £1.2m on cars and vehicle costs in just a year.

Figures obtained by the party show that £1,211,084 was spent by the Scottish Government on “unspecified vehicle costs” between February 2019 and March 2020. That is the equivalent of nearly £100,000 per month on vehicle costs.

The figures also include nearly £100,000 (£96,480) paid to Tesla,  a company specialising in high-end electric cars.
