The University of Maryland is retaining head football coach DJ Durkin, despite a report that details an abusive culture, which led to the June death of 19-year-old Jordan McNair. The university acknowledges the football department is "dysfunctional" but says Durkin was new to the job, has been unfairly blamed for issues and should remain on the sidelines.

Google employees plan walkout as another exec steps down
About 200 Google employees reportedly are planning a walkout Thursday to protest alleged protection of executives accused of sexual misconduct. The news comes as another executive, Richard DeVaul, resigns after being named in a New York Times report detailing allegations of abuse of power at Google.

High health care costs strain US economy
