I'm sure everyone reading this has experienced a flight delay or cancellation at some point since the COVID-19 pandemic began. ✈️ Last summer I was about to embark on a family vacation to Iceland when our flight was delayed twice and then canceled altogether. After an extra day in a not-so-glamorous hotel in Portland, we finally made it to Iceland.

I don't know how flights to Iceland are now, but be careful if you're flying to China anytime soon. The U.S. has already suspended 26 flights to the country after passengers tested positive for COVID-19.

Utah may not monitor wastewater for monkeypox. Here’s why

The state of Utah has tracked COVID-19 in wastewater, but what about monkeypox? Traces of monkeypox in wastewater can help epidemiologists determine whether the virus is present in a certain region.

According to Utah epidemiologist Dr. Leisha Nolen, it’s unknown whether traces of the virus in sewer systems are the result of human waste coming into contact with monkeypox-caused lesions in the groin area or because the virus is excreted in urine and feces.

In areas where monkeypox is already present, data collected from wastewater doesn't help much in tracking the virus until this question is answered.

Doing it right and going big: How this Utah sports writer turned his Lego hobby into something amazing

Deseret News sports writer James Edward will be at the BrickSlopes event in Sandy this weekend displaying his own 90-square-foot Lego Winter Village that took four years and an estimated 100,000 Lego pieces to build.

"I spent an absurd amount of hours in the garage working on the city, with my wife, Megan, and my three kids, William, Emily and Ben, helping out from time to time," Edward said. "Much of their work has been with making sure the details are just right throughout the city."
