Thanks again for being a part of the Hyperallergic community.
We started Hyperallergic in 2009 as a new, independent space for writing on art and culture. Our goals were to pay writers fairly, introduce fresh new voices to the field, challenge the art world status quo, and reach readers beyond the elitist art world structures and publications that already existed.
Fifteen years in, our goals remain the same, but on an even larger scale. Today, we reach a million readers every month, inspiring people like you with compelling and accessible stories about artists and the greater art world. Our work has already helped shift the focus away from the obsessions of the 1% to a more expansive idea of who is included in the art community. We are extremely proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, but we also know there is so much more to do, and that’s where we need your help.
When you become a member of Hyperallergic, you help us keep our journalism sustainable and ensure expanded coverage of underrepresented artists and art communities. You also help keep Hyperallergic free and accessible to all.

One of the things that makes Hyperallergic work — and something I’m very proud of — is that we listen to people. We pride ourselves on being part of the very art communities we cover, so what happens to the field impacts us directly.
Your support will help us remain fiercely independent and allow us to keep forging our own path. You’ll be contributing to a publication that has become synonymous with challenging ideas about the dynamics of power and transparency, and that celebrates the impact of professional arts journalism.
All of this is only possible with the support of our members.
Thank you for reading, Hrag Vartanian Editor-in-Chief & Co-Founder
