When M-Net picked up Yellowstone - the most-watched pay TV series on American TV - unspooling three episodes per day, DStv subscribers learnt a few new things about cowboys.
This includes their superstition about putting a cowboy hat on a bed and that you never want one of them to say, "You're being taken to the Train Station".
The Randburg rands - paid in good ol' American greenbacks for acquiring the licensing rights for what is actually a Paramount+ show - will help to offset the tremendous production costs of the hugely popular show that has given creator and producer Taylor Sheridan essentially free reign to splurge as he wishes to bring his modern-day Montana-set rural cowboy series to life.
Although Yellowstone has been cancelled amid rumours of tension between Costner and Sheridan, the show's success has already spawned a prequel series, 1883, which M-Net has acquired, revolving around the Dutton family and set during the Old West.
There's also a second prequel series, 1923, set during the Great Depression, starting on M-Net (DStv101) in June.
Is Yellowstone, with its white and black "Y" decal barn and ranch buildings, like Dallas and Southfork? Or maybe like Dr Quinn Medicine Woman? Little House on the Prairie? Gunsmoke, Deadwood or perhaps Walker - Texas Ranger?
It's none of these.
