We usually think of pigs as summer fun--you can roast them on the grill--but they're dandy in the winter and a very good reason to turn the oven on. They're a solid, wintertime comfort food. I prefer brats, so for me--it's brats in a homemade bread blanket. But you can do hot dogs.
And I love the colors. You don't have to wrap them in plain white bread dough. My favorites include Black Russian, Cheesy Salsa Bread, and Diego's Jalapeno Cheddar Bread. Nothing boring there.
But go ahead, have a little fun. Eat a pig in a blanket in the winter. You'll like it.
