Massive wildfires are now sweeping through central Israel, forcing thousands to evacuate as flames threaten homes, forests, and lives. Communities like Eshtaol, Mesilat Zion, and Beit Meir have been emptied, with over 3,500 residents fleeing the advancing infernos. Roads and railways are shut down, and the skies are thick with smoke as emergency crews battle the blazes day and night. This crisis, fueled by record-breaking heat and fierce winds, has overwhelmed Israel’s emergency services. Fires erupted near Moshav Tarum and along Highway 6, spreading rapidly toward populated areas and even threatening the Forest of the Martyrs near Jerusalem. Highways 1, 6, 38, and 44 have been closed, and train services suspended. At least 16 people, including firefighters and police officers, have been injured. ZAKA Tel-Aviv is on the ground right now, in the heart of the chaos, bringing calm through action. Our dedicated volunteers are evacuating families, administering emergency care, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with fire and rescue teams in the worst-hit zones. With flames encroaching on homes and highways, our units are working under immense pressure to save lives. |
