The state legislature passed a bill that would bring back the electric chair as a method of execution, though it's not clear whether Louisiana's chair, known by prisoners as "Gruesome Gertie," will come out of retirement. State officials won't say, but Gov. Jeff Landry is expected to sign the bill that would revive the infamous practice. John Simerman has the story.
Louisiana lawmakers passed 20 crime-related bills in the recent session but did so without the oversight committee hearings that would have provided a sense of what they would cost.
