Chilly, gray, wet Tuesday. Hope you enjoyed some sunshine today - because it’ll take a day off tomorrow. Tuesday will be much colder, with highs in the lower 50s in the Twin Cities. Some light rain will start later tonight from western Minnesota, and by Tuesday morning, rain becomes more widespread with occasional thunderstorms. COVID-19 in Minnesota today: Plants idled due to coronavirus, livestock to be euthanized. Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen said on Monday that hogs will need to be euthanized because the COVID-19 outbreak forced several large meat processing plants to shut, leaving local producers with nowhere to ship tens of thousands of hogs weekly. His comments came hours after the Health Department reported 3,816 confirmed cases and 286 deaths tied to COVID-19 in Minnesota. Muscle pain, chills, loss of taste, smell newly added to COVID-19 symptom list. The CDC has long said that fever, cough and shortness of breath were indications that someone might have COVID-19. It has now added six more conditions that may come with the disease: chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell. 3 weeks left until MN Legislature adjourns. Will some key COVID-19 issues remain up in the air? House and Senate leaders have taken a bipartisan approach in recent weeks to address COVID-19 issues. But there are some highly partisan proposals coming up before the May 18 deadline.
