Will pitching carry LSU to the top?

Big things have been expected of this LSU baseball team all season long.

The Tigers have been No. 1 in the major polls from the jump, and are an even bigger favorite than ever to win the College World Series.

But injuries have depleted LSU’s pitching staff and put the Tigers in a vulnerable position. If LSU is to indeed win the CWS, it's going to need better production from the bullpen. Somehow. Friday night ace Paul Skenes is pitching great, but the Tigers will need more than him to claim the big prize.

Speaking of being the betting favorite, a curious story has emerged from Ohio, where betting on Alabama games was suspended after “suspicious wagering activity” on the Crimson Tide against LSU. What this is all about or where this goes is impossible to say, but you know we’ll be on top of the story for you here at TheAdvocate.com.

Meanwhile, our Patrick Magee is back with his latest NCAA Tournament projections on the baseball field of 64. And also meanwhile, LSU is still No. 1 in the polls, as it has been every week this season. And it only seems like Dylan Crews is always SEC player of the week, but he really is this first week of the May.

The softball season is winding down and that LSU team is positioning itself for the postseason with the final weekend of the 2023 campaign approaching.

Finally, the LSU track and field teams both slipped one spot to No. 6 in the national rankings this week.

That’s all for now. Remember, no betting on Alabama baseball, and we’ll see you next time.
