Publicly-Traded REITs Just Posted Their Best Performance in Five Years. It May Not Last.

As measured by their total returns, REITs blew the roof off the market in 2019. Overall, the REIT sector posted a total return of 28.1 percent last year, according to trade group Nareit. That’s the best performance for REITs since 2014, when the sector notched a total return of 29.96 percent.
