Jeff Landry’s plan to remodel the state's tax system may see some increased opposition as it moves through the special session of the Legislature. The governor's administration says the net results of the changes will be a small budget surplus in future years, but some lawmakers say they are concerned that the moves would actually cause deficits. The House Ways and Means Committee overwhelmingly passed a series of changes Friday that ultimately would have to be approved by amending the state constitution in a statewide vote on March 29.
