By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor ON THE AVENUE: In a crime that disrupted business at New Orleans' storied Pontchartain Hotel, a 29-year-old man carrying out the garbage was shot and killed Friday on a side street near the St. Charles Avenue institution. It made for New Orleans' 201st homicide of the year, matching 2020's total for the most since 2007. A FEST'S FUTURE: Cancelled for two consecutive years now, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience surprised its 2020 and 2021 ticketholders this week with refunds. But it made no mention of the $50 merchandise and food credit it had promised them, nor did it say whether it will be back in 2022. A LIGHT UPTOWN: Hanukkah proved special for the Abramson family in 2021. Hays Town-inspired cottage near Audubon Park. Welcome to election day - and the weekend. Check the latest news all day on NOLA.com. D.B. |
