| As a three-game losing streak weighs on the LSU basketball team, Will Wade and his players continue to feel the pinch of the injury bug. No. 19 LSU could be without two starters Wednesday night when the Tigers, who will try to snap their longest SEC losing streak since Wade's first season in 2018, go against Texas A&M. Wade told our Sheldon Mickles prior to his weekly radio show that point guard Xavier Pinson will be doubtful and could miss a fifth consecutive contest with a sprained knee. Also, Wade said Darius Days will be a game-time decision with a sprained ankle he injured against Alabama last Wednesday night and re-injured Saturday at Tennessee. Pinson again did some running Monday, Wade said, but didn't participate in any individual drills. Days did not practice at all as the Tigers prepped for A&M. In other basketball news Monday, Wade's team and Kim Mulkey's women's team both dropped in the national polls after the men lost both of their games last week and the women dropped their only contest at Florida. The LSU men fell six spots to No. 19 in the AP poll and were down to 18th from No. 16 in the coaches' rankings. On the other hand, the women's team moved down just one spot following its narrow, one-point loss at Florida. Elsewhere, while it's been bitterly cold in south Louisiana, first-year coach Jay Johnson and his baseball team hope to warm things up later this week with the start of practice. Our Leah Vann checked in with Johnson and his team at their annual First Pitch Banquet on Sunday night to see what's going on the countdown to the season-opener against Maine on Feb. 18 is officially on. And, in case you missed it Sunday, Jay Clark's gymnastics team picked up a transfer from UCLA as freshman Alexis Jeffrey, a four-star recruit, officially enrolled in school and will join the team as a walk-on.
