Over the weekend, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recovered the bodies of six hostages from a tunnel in the southern Gazan city of Rafah. The hostages were killed by Hamas shortly before Israeli forces reached them, according to an IDF spokesperson, and included Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was kidnapped from the Nova music festival. In a statement, President Biden said he was “devastated and outraged” by the news and insisted “Hamas leaders will pay for these crimes.” Meanwhile, tens of thousands of protestors participated in demonstrations across Israel Sunday, with many (including some of the families of the hostages) blaming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for failing to secure a deal to bring the hostages home.
On Saturday, Brazil started blocking its citizens from accessing X. The suspension follows Elon Musk’s refusal to comply with an order from a Brazilian Supreme Court justice to appoint a legal representative to facilitate government requests to block alleged misinformation accounts. The move — which could affect some 40 million Brazilians — is the latest development in a monthslong feud between the judge and Musk, who said the judge is “crushing the people’s right to free speech.”
Former President Donald Trump announced that if elected, his administration would require the government or insurance companies to cover the cost of IVF treatments. While he didn’t specify how the plan would work, the announcement — largely seen as an attempt to gain women’s votes — has drawn criticism from both anti-abortion groups and abortion rights proponents, like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts), who called Trump’s comments “smoke and mirrors.”

There’s a lot of talk around creating a bedtime routine, which basically involves not being on or around your phone. That’s where this good, not-so-old-fashioned alarm clock comes in. It has a bedtime alarm that’ll remind you when it’s time to start winding down (aka, putting your phone in another room), a sound machine that plays a variety of soothing ambient noises, and a nightlight that gives off a warm glow. The alarm is designed to gently transition you out of sleep and into your day. Since we started going to bed and waking up with our Loftie, we’ve stuck to our routine much easier and slept better. It doesn’t hurt that it’s 20% off today.
If your last experience with press-on nails was at a sleepover in middle school, we’re happy to introduce you to the new guard of false nails. Glamnetic offers hundreds (if not thousands) of shapes, lengths, and designs, ranging from the fantastical to the high-key glam. Personally, we’re partial to the your-nails-but-better options, like this almond-shaped French manicure and short, rounded “lip gloss” nails. One of our shopping editors wore them to the office recently and spent the day fielding compliments (an upside to working at Skimm HQ). She says it took the exact time of one-and-a-half episodes of Friends to apply, and they can stay on for about a week (or two, if you believe in yourself and don’t wash a ton of dishes). These already-inexpensive press-ons are 25% off today. Take the plunge.
